Bozeman Deaconess Health Services to Commemorate Suicide Survivors Day

November 18, 2013

Bozeman Deaconess Health Services, led by Spiritual Care manager Kenneth P. Mottram, DMin, BCC, will commemorate International Survivors of Suicide Day on Saturday,
November 23, at 9:00 am, in the Bitterroot room on the BDHS campus.

All survivors of suicide loss are welcome to attend, and find a safe and healing space where everyone can comfortably participate in a way that is meaningful to them. Join with others to listen to a diverse group of survivors discuss their losses, how they coped, and much more.

Those who participate can experience the powerful sense of connection and community that is forged between survivors of suicide loss, Mottram said. You are not alone. This day is for you.

In 1999, the U.S. Congress designated the Saturday before Thanksgiving as National Survivors of Suicide Day, a day in which friends and family of those who have died by suicide can join together for healing and support. Every year since, survivors of suicide loss gather together at locations across the globe to feel a sense of community, to promote healing, and to connect with others who have had similar experiences.

This is the eighth year BDHS has observed International Suicide Survivors Day. For more information, please call (406) 414-1644 or visit www.bozemandeaconess.org/events.
